Bad Examples of Prayer

Dear Lord, So far today, Lord, I've done all right. I haven't gossiped, haven't lost my temper, haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or over indulgent. I'm very thankful for that. But; in a few minutes, Lord, I'm going to get out of bed. And from then on, I'm probably going to need a lot more help. Amen. (from a Web Site)

O Lord, you know that I have nine houses in the city of London, and that I have recently purchased an estate in Essex. Please keep the two counties of Middlesex and Essex from fires and earthquakes. And, as I have also a mortgage in Hertfordshire, I beg you also to have an eye of compassion on that county, and the rest of the counties you may treat as you like. O Lord, help the banks to meet all their bills and make all debtors good men. Give prosperous voyage and safe return to the ship Mermaid because I have not insured it. And because you said "The days of the wicked are short", I trust that you will not forget your promise as I will inherit an estate on the death of that worthless young man Sir J.L.... Keep my friends from sinking, preserve me from thieves and housebreakers, and make all my servants so honest and faithful that they may always attend to my interests, and never cheat me out of my property night and day. Amen. (John Ward, member of parliament in 1727)

I’ve been wondering about that one too. What do you think? They did a lot of imprecation in the old testament.

?“They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, ??and to put her away? He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts ??suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so….—Matthew ???19:7-8 ?

Hello Nathanial, ?

I think there are many things that happened in the human history and are recorded in the ??Old Testament. There are bad things that happened because we really did not know God ??and we had hardness hearts. The divorce and this imprecations are some of these ?incorrect ?things. But now, we know how the thing were in the beginning,we know God ?and we know what is the right thing to do in front of our enemies or people that hate us ??(Luke 6:27-31?).?

I know you are using Osama Bin Laden as an example name. Particularly in his case, I ??know there is ex-Muslim who pray for him, they pray for he becomes a modern Paul. It ?is ?not easy to do so, especially when people had escaped from radicals, but this is the ?right ?we are called to do.?

Sorry for my English, is there is some English orthographic mistakes, please edit my text.?

Bye, bye ?
